This is my personal site that displays some of my interest. As a kid my passion was playing baseball. Everyday after school my buddies and I played ball in the alley until when our moms would call us in for dinner. After that passion fizzled out, the guitar came into my life as I welcomed the world of music. I first played my very own guitar at the age of 14. My mom purchased it from a neighbor for $25, it was a blue Silvertone. Shortly after that I found myself playing in my moms living room jamming with some friends. My friend “Champ” from across the street played the drums and my nephew ”Ricky” played the bass and my brother “Dickie” was our manager. My parents had a deck attached to the house in the back and we would set up our equipment on the deck and play the music we practiced in the house. By playing outside like that we had a crowd of people digging our music. Eventually the band auditioned some additional musicians and before we knew it, we were performing in churches and local talent shows. We named the group the Matadors.This was my first band. The Matadors performed around the Washington DC metropolitan area. We later changed our name to “Elvans Rd” when we recorded our first 45 rpm record on the Cherry Blossom label produced by Al Johnson of The Unifics entitled “Can I” . Elvans Rd was the name of the street that our band house was on in South East Washington, DC. After The Matadors I went on the road with Recording Artist Vocal Group Skip Mahoney and The Casuals. We toured extensively up and down the east coast playing mostly in the state of New Jersey. I had the opportunity to write and record 5 of 8 songs with the group Symba on the “Body Bait” LP which produced a hit “Hey You”
I formed the group Jade after Symba which recorded several dance tunes on the Creative Funk Record label.I studied music in college and finally obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts with a Music Major. I am currently the band leader for the recording group Jimi Smooth & HitTime
